Job Summary

The GL Accountant is responsible for managing and performing general ledger accounting activities, ensuring accurate financial reporting, account reconciliations, and compliance with accounting standards. The role supports month-end close activities, financial controls, audit processes, and coordination across multiple business functions.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform general ledger accounting activities in accordance with organizational policies and standards.
  • Manage fixed assets accounting, depreciation, and assets under construction.
  • Handle payroll accounting based on HR summaries.
  • Maintain prepaid cost registers, accruals, provisions, and revaluations.
  • Manage current accounts and loan accounting activities.
  • Prepare monthly management reports and maintain proper documentation.
  • Coordinate month-end close activities with Finance teams.
  • Review trial balances and perform account reconciliations.
  • Identify discrepancies and initiate corrective/preventive actions.
  • Support tax, statistical, banking, and employment reporting activities.
  • Assist in internal and external audit processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Experience in General Ledger (GL) accounting and financial operations.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting processes.
  • Experience in month-end closing activities and reconciliations.
  • Knowledge of fixed assets, accruals, provisions, and payroll accounting.
  • Experience with trial balance reviews and financial reporting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Good communication and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, or related field.
  • Experience in Shared Services or Global Business Services environments.
  • Knowledge of audit processes and regulatory compliance requirements.
