Job Summary
The GL Accountant is responsible for managing and performing general ledger accounting activities, ensuring accurate financial reporting, account reconciliations, and compliance with accounting standards. The role supports month-end close activities, financial controls, audit processes, and coordination across multiple business functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform general ledger accounting activities in accordance with organizational policies and standards.
- Manage fixed assets accounting, depreciation, and assets under construction.
- Handle payroll accounting based on HR summaries.
- Maintain prepaid cost registers, accruals, provisions, and revaluations.
- Manage current accounts and loan accounting activities.
- Prepare monthly management reports and maintain proper documentation.
- Coordinate month-end close activities with Finance teams.
- Review trial balances and perform account reconciliations.
- Identify discrepancies and initiate corrective/preventive actions.
- Support tax, statistical, banking, and employment reporting activities.
- Assist in internal and external audit processes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
Required Skills & Experience
- Experience in General Ledger (GL) accounting and financial operations.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting processes.
- Experience in month-end closing activities and reconciliations.
- Knowledge of fixed assets, accruals, provisions, and payroll accounting.
- Experience with trial balance reviews and financial reporting.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Good communication and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, or related field.
- Experience in Shared Services or Global Business Services environments.
- Knowledge of audit processes and regulatory compliance requirements.
