Job Summary

The Lead Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) Development Engineer is responsible for leading the end-to-end design, development, and deployment of Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) architecture for commercial vehicles. The role focuses on vehicle E/E architecture, embedded software platforms, cloud-connected services, OTA capabilities, cybersecurity, AUTOSAR, cloud integration, and driving next-generation connected vehicle platforms.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and deployment of Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) architecture across commercial vehicle platforms.
  • Design scalable vehicle E/E architectures including domain/zonal architectures, centralized compute platforms, and high-speed vehicle communication networks.
  • Define hardware-software partitioning strategies and ECU/domain controller consolidation roadmaps.
  • Architect reusable software platforms supporting Over-the-Air (OTA) updates, Feature-on
  • Demand (FoD), and software reuse across vehicle platforms.
  • Own the complete SDV product lifecycle including requirements engineering, architecture, development, validation, testing, and production release.
  • Ensure compliance with automotive standards including AIS-189, AIS-190, ISO 26262, and ISO/SAE 21434.
  • Collaborate with vehicle engineering, powertrain, manufacturing, and after-market teams for integrated product development.
  • Define product roadmaps for connected vehicle capabilities and digital services.
  • Develop platform commonization strategies across multiple commercial vehicle platforms.
  • Design vehicle-to-cloud integration architecture including telemetry pipelines, remote diagnostics, prognostics, and OTA campaign management.
  • Define APIs and integrations with Fleet Management Systems, cloud platforms (Azure/AWS), mobile applications, and web platforms.
  • Ensure end-to-end data security through encryption, authentication, and cybersecurity best practices.
  • Guide development of RTOS/Linux-based automotive software platforms and AUTOSAR Classic & Adaptive architectures.
  • Lead development of middleware abstraction layers, communication stacks, diagnostics (UDS, DoIP), and scalable software frameworks.
  • Collaborate with Tier-1 suppliers, cloud providers, and technology partners to drive SDV innovation.
  • Lead and mentor multidisciplinary engineering teams while promoting Agile, DevOps, CI/CD, and Model-Based Development practices.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 10–15 years of experience in Automotive Embedded Systems or Software Development.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience leading engineering teams.
  • Strong expertise in Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) architecture.
  • Deep understanding of Automotive E/E architectures including Domain and Zonal Architectures.
  • Strong experience with Embedded Systems and Vehicle Networks including CAN, LIN, CAN-FD, and Automotive Ethernet.
  • Hands-on experience with AUTOSAR Classic and AUTOSAR Adaptive.
  • Strong experience with Linux-based automotive platforms and RTOS.
  • Experience with Cloud Platforms such as Microsoft Azure or AWS and IoT architectures.
  • Expertise in OTA (Over-the-Air) updates, telematics systems, and connected vehicle platforms.
  • Strong understanding of Automotive Cybersecurity and ISO/SAE 21434 implementation.
  • Knowledge of Functional Safety lifecycle and ISO 26262.
  • Experience with Diagnostics protocols including UDS and DoIP.
  • Exposure to Data Analytics pipelines and cloud-native automotive software development.
  • Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and product ownership capabilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • BE/B.Tech or M.Tech in Electronics, Embedded Systems, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Experience in Commercial Vehicles or Heavy-Duty Truck platforms.
  • Exposure to Fleet Management Systems and connected mobility platforms.
  • Experience with Mining or Off-Highway vehicle applications operating in low-connectivity environments.
  • Hands-on experience leading SDV transformation programs and digital platform launches in the automotive industry.
