Job Summary

The Sourcing Manager – Electronics Specialist is responsible for managing strategic sourcing and procurement activities for electronic components and hardware materials to support R&D and engineering teams. The role focuses on supplier management, procurement strategy, risk mitigation, cost optimization, component sourcing, and ensuring timely availability of high-quality electronic components to support product development and innovation initiatives.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic sourcing and procurement activities for electronic components, semiconductors, PCBs, connectors, and other hardware materials.
  • Identify, evaluate, onboard, and manage suppliers based on quality, cost, and lead time requirements.
  • Manage RFQs, supplier negotiations, vendor selection, and procurement decision-making processes.
  • Establish and maintain supplier contracts, agreements, and service-level agreements (SLAs).
  • Collaborate with R&D and engineering teams to understand technical requirements and align sourcing strategies.
  • Support prototype builds and pre-production sourcing by ensuring timely component availability and identifying alternative sourcing options.
  • Build strong supplier relationships to improve agility, innovation support, and supply chain resilience.
  • Monitor supplier performance and conduct supplier audits for quality and compliance management.
  • Identify and mitigate sourcing risks related to component obsolescence, supply shortages, geopolitical factors, and single-source dependencies.
  • Drive cost optimization and value engineering initiatives in collaboration with design and manufacturing teams.
  • Balance cost competitiveness with inventory optimization and just-in-time delivery strategies.
  • Collaborate with Product Development, Quality, Manufacturing, and internal stakeholders during New Product Introduction (NPI) processes.
  • Support Engineering Change Notification (ECN) and product prototyping cycles.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 5–8 years of experience in Supply Chain, Strategic Sourcing, or Procurement roles.
  • Strong experience sourcing electronic components, semiconductors, PCBs, connectors, and hardware materials.
  • Strong knowledge of electronics supply chain management and procurement processes.
  • Experience working in electronics, semiconductors, hardware engineering, or R&D environments.
  • Strong understanding of electronic components, BOM (Bill of Materials), and hardware design cycles.
  • Experience managing global suppliers and handling component shortages and lifecycle management issues.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle.
  • Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
  • Experience managing sourcing tools and procurement workflows.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience supporting prototype development and pre-production sourcing activities.
  • Understanding of NPI (New Product Introduction) and ECN (Engineering Change Notification) processes.
  • Technical understanding of PCBs, embedded systems, or consumer electronics hardware.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Business, or related field.
  • Experience working in fast-paced innovation-driven product development environments.
  • Familiarity with compliance standards such as RoHS, REACH, and conflict minerals regulations.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional R&D and manufacturing teams.
